Deep Research Prompt Enhancer
Prompt Enhancer is a desktop tool that rewrites a loose question into a structured research brief for deep-research tools — Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini. Select your question anywhere, press one global hotkey (⌃⌥⌘P on Mac, Ctrl+Alt+P on Windows), and it’s replaced in place with a brief — objective, scope, source preferences and output format — in under four seconds.
No window switching. No copy-paste. The cursor stays exactly where it was.
Why a research brief beats a question
A deep-research mode is only as good as the brief you hand it. “Research the EV market” returns a shallow wall of text. A brief that states the objective, the scope (what to include and exclude), the kind of sources to prefer, and the output structure turns the same run into an organised, citable answer.
That structure is exactly what the research preset adds — automatically, from a hotkey.
For the underlying structuring method, read How to structure Claude prompts with XML.
How it works
- Write a loose question anywhere — Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, a notes app.
- Select it and press the hotkey.
- In under four seconds the selection is replaced with a structured research brief:
Before: research the electric vehicle market
After:
Objective: Assess the global passenger EV market and where it is heading in the next 24 months.
Scope: Include unit sales by region (China, EU, US), leading manufacturers, battery cost trends, and policy drivers. Exclude commercial trucks and two-wheelers.
Sources to prefer: industry reports (IEA, BloombergNEF), manufacturer filings, reputable trade press from the last 18 months. Flag any figure older than that.
Output format: an executive summary (5 bullets), then a comparison table of the top 5 manufacturers (region, 2025 unit sales, YoY growth), with inline citations for every figure.
It works system-wide — macOS uses the Accessibility API, Windows uses UI Automation, Electron/web apps fall back to clipboard automatically — so there’s no per-tool extension to install.
One app, the right structure per target
The research preset structures the brief; the tool you paste into does the searching. The same app also carries text presets for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex, plus image and video presets — pick the target, get the matching structure.
Honest caveats
- It structures the brief — it does not search the web or fetch sources itself; your research tool does that.
- The quality of the answer still depends on the deep-research tool you paste into.
- The macOS DMG is Apple-notarized since June 2026 — installs without Gatekeeper warnings.
- Free tier: 3 free enhancements, no signup, then a 7-day free trial; BYOK is a Pro feature. Needs internet.
