What is a Claude prompt enhancer?

Prompt Enhancer is a desktop app for macOS and Windows that rewrites any rough draft into a structured Claude prompt — with role, context, task and output format in Anthropic's official XML style — from a single global hotkey, in place, in any app, in under four seconds.

You write a draft.
Claude writes you a question back.

Most prompts fail at the first step: they describe what you want, not what the model needs to produce a useful answer. So you iterate. Rephrase. Try again. Lose twelve minutes.

You typed
"help me with python"
You got back
a clarifying question and three bullet points of context you already have

The gap between what you mean and what the model understands is not a model problem. It is a prompt structure problem.

Three steps. No context switch.

01

Select your draft

Highlight any text in any app. A rough sentence, a half-formed question, a wall of stream-of-consciousness — whatever you have.

02

Press your hotkey

Hit ⌃⌥⌘P (fully customizable). Prompt Enhancer captures your text, calls Claude, and restructures it into XML tags — role, context, task, output format — the way Anthropic's prompting guide recommends. No API key needed on trial.

03

Watch it transform

Your draft is replaced in place — in the same field, in the same app — with a structured prompt ready to send. Under four seconds.

Tried it? An honest review there genuinely helps a solo dev.

I built this because I got tired of formatting prompts by hand.

Hi, I’m Reven — Solo developer · Prompt Enhancer

I kept rewriting the same sloppy drafts into Claude’s XML structure by hand — role, context, task, output format — over and over. So I built one hotkey to do it. That’s the whole app. No team, no VC — just me, shipping and fixing fast.

It’s early, and I won’t pretend there are thousands of reviews yet. What I can promise: email me and a real human replies — usually same day. If it’s not for you, the 30-day refund is no-questions-asked.

Your prompts stay private

Every plan runs through our zero-log proxy. Pro can bring its own key and go direct. Your prompts are never stored.

Managed proxy: zero-log

Free, trial, and Pro Managed prompts route through our zero-log proxy (TLS only, no content storage). We log only: timestamp, token count, trial/license id — never the text.

Pro BYOK: direct to Anthropic

With a Pro license you can bring your own Anthropic key — prompts then go directly to Anthropic and the key stays in your OS Keychain, never on our servers.

Only email + device id stored

To run your trial we store your email and a hashed device identifier — nothing else about you. No browsing, no cross-site tracking.

No prompt content logged

Local logs record only metrics: length, tokens, latency. Not your text. Not on our servers.

Questions

Everything about platforms, privacy, pricing and your API key.

Which platforms are supported?
Available now: macOS 13+ (Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows 10/11 (x64 + ARM64). Linux (AppImage + .deb) is on the Q3 2026 waitlist. The website auto-detects your OS and offers the right download. License keys are platform-specific (PE-MAC-…, PE-WIN-…) and bind to the OS you bought for.
Do I need an account?
No. The first 3 enhancements need nothing — no signup, no key. After that, a 7-day free trial unlocks with just your email (no password, no account). We store your email and a device identifier to run the trial — never your prompts.
Can I use my own Claude API key (BYOK)?
Yes — BYOK is a Pro feature. With a Pro license you can route enhancements through your own Anthropic key instead of our managed proxy; the key is stored in your OS secure credential store (macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, libsecret on Linux) and only ever talks to api.anthropic.com. Free and trial users go through our managed proxy.
What happens to my prompts?
On the free trial and managed plan, your prompt routes through our zero-log proxy (TLS only) to Anthropic. With Pro BYOK, it goes directly to Anthropic. Either way we never see or store the prompt content — we log only timestamp, token count, and your trial/license id.
What does each preset do?
Default — universal enhance: adds role, constraints, output format. Concise — strips extras, optimises for minimal-token output (good for Claude Haiku 4.5). Verbose — expands reasoning steps, adds counter-arguments and edge-cases (good for Claude Sonnet 4.6). Code — for programming prompts: detects language/framework, asks for output expectations, test cases.
Does it work in [my app]?
Any app with a text field. macOS uses Accessibility API, Windows uses UI Automation, Linux uses AT-SPI; Electron / web apps on all 3 platforms fall back to clipboard automatically.
What if my OS updates break it?
macOS app is native Swift (macOS 13+); Windows/Linux app is built on Tauri (Rust). Compatibility patches ship within 2 weeks of major OS releases.
Can I use one license on macOS AND Windows?
No — each $29 license is bound to one platform (your OS family at purchase). Need another platform? Buy a separate $29 license for it. Each key activates on up to 3 devices of its OS family.
Money back?
30-day refund, no questions asked. Email support@promptenhancer.online.
Works offline?
No — enhancement requires Claude API. You'll see a clear "no internet" message if disconnected.
How is this different from Kerlig / Raycast / BoltAI?
Prompt Enhancer does one thing and does it well: it restructures prompts with XML tags the way Anthropic's prompt engineering docs recommend (role, context, task, output format). Kerlig is a general AI writing assistant. Raycast is a launcher with AI add-ons. BoltAI is a multi-model client. We are specialized.
How does the free trial work?
Start with 3 free enhancements — no signup, no key. Then a 7-day free trial (unlimited, on our key) unlocks with just your email — no password. After the trial, Pro Lifetime ($29 one-time) keeps it unlimited forever.

Make Claude
actually understand you.
